Eco Illini Supermileage is a student-led, project-based team that designs, builds, and tests prototype gas and electric vehicles to achieve record fuel and energy ratings. We are based out of the ESPL with subteams focusing on mechanical, composite materials, electrical, aerodynamic, and business development.

Our team competes annually in the shell Eco-marathon Americas, and SAE Supermileage competitions as well as participating in events across the university. The competition ensures there is always a need for research and improvements in every part of the car. We are currently working on our new electric vehicle, G5e, and intend on having two functional cars by the end of the semester, one with our gas engine and the other with our electric motor/battery setup.
Our goal is to provide every member with meaningful experiences and provide an outlet to develop technical and professional skills that tie course content to real-world situations. There is no experience required, or any restrictions on majors. All teams are available to everyone to join, and the project level is entirely dependent on how much work you are willing to put in. Our team's small-size means that there are always relevant projects, and a tight community.
