The Virtual Reality Club at UIUC aims to bring VR, AR, and other awesome technologies to our campus. We mainly explore VR through open hours at the University’s VR Lab in the Armory by holding general meetings to talk about news in the industry, explore VR games and experiences, and even teach a course where you can learn how VR games are developed! There’s options for everyone, regardless of prior experience or knowledge of VR.
Right now, due to COVID-19 and the event restrictions set in place, we are mainly focused on doing virtual events like community games, VR streams, watch parties, and VR app development classes. We are doing the best we can to still reach out to all our members and make everyone included, even if they may not own a headset.
If you are interested in playing VR games, we even sponsor the UIUC VR Esports teams. They play Beat Saber and Echo Arena competitively against a league of other universities across North America. If you love to play VR games or want to learn what it takes to join, let us know on Discord.
